Once the smoke had cleared thirteen people lay dead. Despite the media attention paid to the event at the time few stop to think about what happened anymore. That is, unless another school shooting occurs as it did just a month ago. Not all college students forget the significance of this day however. Wednesday morning I briefly spoke to a friend at University of Florida who informed me of how her roommates remembered that it was once again April, 20. They woke up at 4:20 in the morning and began to smoke marijuana. Six years ago 13 people died because we could not identify the warning signs of troubled teenagers. Just a month ago, 10 more people died because of another troubled youth. Let us not forget these events, and hopefully within a year's time we will have a better reason to remember the date of 4/20, one that doesn't involve the issue of drugs.
