ERECTING A WALL

Regarding "School board OKs drug, alcohol tests" (news story, May 13)
about a new drug-testing policy in Dickson: Once again we've adopted a
way to give kids who are currently using drugs more time to use them.
Children who are involved in extracurricular activities are less likely
to abuse drugs. We should focus on getting our misguided youth
interested in these programs, not hand them a sample cup when they show
interest. This throws up a wall and says that they are not good enough
because they've tried drugs. Great job on keeping them in the back
alleys where they belong!
