DO THE CRIME, DO THE TIME

To the Editor of THE EAGLE:- I have been following the many letters
regarding the Great Barrington drug bust and I have to say that I am sick
of doing so. These "youngsters" as many refer to them, are all old enough
to know that what they were doing in that parking lot was illegal, plain
and simple. They knew they were in a school zone and if anyone thinks
otherwise it is time to get their heads out of the sand. Some say it was
their first offense so they should get leniency. I say wrong, it was
probably just the first time they have gotten caught. There is a
consequence for every action taken and, in this case, it is a mandatory
two-year jail sentence.

Do you think they didn't know that? These aren't the first "youngsters" to
sell drugs and unfortunately they will not be the last. Remember the
saying, "If you play, you pay?" Now the time is due.

Thank you, Mr. Capeless, for standing behind our officers. I am sure they
have better things to be doing with their time.
