Children found in a secluded area the bodies of Gerome Calderon, 21, and Charlie Dingding, 30, with three gunshot wounds each in the head, last Monday noon. They were neighbors in Saseda Compound on A. Lopez St., Barangay Labangon. Insp. Mario Monilar, homicide chief, said they are looking at a possible drug angle, as Dingding was said to be a drug dependent. Dingding was allegedly asked to buy shabu worth P500 by a neighbor last Sunday, but he never showed up with the purchase, police said. Policemen still have to identify the neighbor. Both bodies were brought to the San Fernan-do Funeral Parlor. Bread Calderon's body was claimed and identified by his aunt, Magdalena Egonia, 46. Egonia told Sun.Star Cebu that her nephew, who lived with her for a year, went out last Tuesday at 4 a.m. with Dingding to buy bread. Calderon and Ding-ding worked as construction workers in one of their neighbor's houses and were up early for work. The two never came back. When they heard the news of two bodies found in Barangay Taptap, she was afraid one might be her nephew and went to the funeral parlor to verify. Egonia was dismayed her fears were confirmed. Dingding lived with his uncle, Samuel, who identified the body but immediately left without saying a word. Egonia said her nephew was a nice boy and could not think of a reason for the killing. "He (Gerome) did not have any enemies and has no record. He was never imprisoned for anything, not even a complaint in the barangay," Egonia said in Cebuano. Envy Gerome's mother works as a private nurse in Guadalupe while his father is in Manila and had no contact with him for some time. Egonia, however, said someone might have been envious of her nephew because he was tall, handsome and everyone liked him. Calderon was supposed to enroll for college this semester. Egonia also said she has not heard of any bad incident involving Dingding. But one of their neighbors, Henry Gatong, said Dingding had enemies both in Duljo Fatima and in Alumnus. Dingding sometimes went home to his mother, who lives in Duljo. His mother's name, Ester, is etched on his back. The police said they would also look into the possible angle of a vigilante killing, but no record has been found to match the names of both suspects at the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center. - ---
