Both teens, 17-year-old Stevenson Metellus of Lawrence and a juvenile from Somerville, are facing charges of a possession of a class D substance (marijuana). The juvenile is also facing charges of possession of the drug with the intent to distribute and selling drugs within 1,000 feet of a school. The arrests were made after school last Friday, May 20, at 5:26 p.m., after an teacher reported a suspicious vehicle had been parked outside the school for a while. The teacher said there were still students at the school and he was concerned for their safety, police records stated. Police officers Robert Hickey, Derek Dottin and Michael Brown responded to the school, spotted a green 1994 Acura Integra parked about 30 feet from the school and circled around to the rear of the car. Hickey then spotted Metellus bending over and putting his hand under the front passenger seat. Police approached the vehicle and asked Metellus to step out of the car. Hickey then spotted a Marlboro 100s cigarette box with a green substance believed to be marijuana sticking out under the passenger seat. Hickey then searched the glove compartment of the vehicle, which was being driven by the juvenile, and found five small bags of a substance believed to be marijuana, police records stated. The juvenile also had $94 in his pocket, police said. The juvenile told Hickey he just bought the car and asked Hickey not to seize it, police records stated. But police seized the car, the drugs and the juvenile's cell phone. Metellus and the juvenile were then loaded into a prisoner wagon outside the school, while about 25-30 kids watched from a side entrance to the building, police records stated. Healey School Principal Brent Stephens did not return the Journal's call regarding the drug bust. - --- MAP posted-by: Beth
