First to fall was a suspected drug peddler, shot thrice by a gunman who barged into his house Friday night. Norberto Cana, 30, a police asset, was watching TV in his house on R. Palmas Street when he was attacked. The gunman's companion was waiting on a motorcycle nearby. Earlier in the day, a man with no criminal record was shot dead by two unidentified men at dawn. Dexter Tiro, 26, was standing in front of a shanty on Urot Street at 2 a.m. when a motorcycle with two passengers approached him. As the attacks continued, Chief Supt. Eduardo Gador, the Central Visayas regional police chief, urged witnesses to trust the police and shed light on the murders. Gador admitted they have had little progress in solving the murders, but pointed out that the lack of witnesses prevented them from coming up with solutions. - ---
