PROBLEMS DISAPPEAR WITH LEGALIZED POT

Re: "Vancouver mayor backs legal pot," June 9.

Thank you for supporting in principle the legalization of marijuana.
Perhaps in the not too distant future you will come to realize that the
prohibition of any drug is: 1. more harmful to users and non-users alike
than leaving the users alone, 2. a colossal waste of time and resources and
3. an abuse of our right to ingest any substance.

I trust you will recall the arguments you presented so well in the
editorial the next time you are tempted to publish an editorial expressing
anger at how organized crime is involved in many marijuana grow-ops and how
the courts are being too lenient on these "criminals." All this shall pass
when marijuana is legalized.

Alan Randell,

Victoria.
