GREAT JOB, DRUG TASK FORCE

Short of the undertaker, it seems there is no professional in our community
with more job security than those who work with the 21st Judicial Circuit
Drug Task Force.

The law enforcement officers in this organization work odd hours at
considerable personal risk to reduce the number of illegal drug users and
sellers on our streets. In recent weeks, they're arrested a man living and
tending marijuana in the woods, shut down a father-son pot operation, a
hydroponics marijuana operation, and arrested several in methamphetamine
operations. And the growing season has hardly begun.

The task force orce is comprised of the Escambia County Sheriff's
Department, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department,
Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, the Escambia County
District Attorney's Office and the Escambia County Commission.

The task force receives 75 percent of its funding from a grant funded by
the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the U. S. Department of Justice
and which is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and
Community Affairs.

It seems that weeding out drug dealers is like weeding one's garden - when
one is pulled, two show up to take its place. Nonetheless, these
professionals are doing a good job of reducing the danger on our streets.

We salute these professionals for their work.
