YOU'RE JUSTIFYING SINS WITH GOD'S WORD

RE: Tit for tat on drugs (Daily Mail, July 13)

Perhaps it is Steve Buckley who needs to go back and re-read his
Bible.

While the Bible is quite clear that alcohol is dangerous and
intoxication is not pleasing to God, nowhere does it say that God's
holy creation is evil. In fact, Jesus Himself told his disciples that
it is not what goes into a man's mouth that defiles him, but what comes out.

When it comes to cannabis, commonly known as marijuana, we don't have
to ask, What Would Jesus Do? Cannabis was well known in the Biblical
era. Among many other uses, it was given to women to ease the pains of
childbirth. Yet Jesus never spoke against it. Alcohol yes, but not
cannabis.

Yes, drug abuse is bad. Using the Holy Word of God to condemn the
works of God is worse.
