EX-DRUG WARRIORS SEE LAWS' FUTILITY

Thanks for publishing retired police officer Bill Richardson's
outstanding op-ed: "Public Corruption: Will Mordida put bite on
Arizona?" (Opinion 2, Friday).

It seems to me that Richardson is a good candidate for membership in
LEAP (Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, www.leap.cc.

Four years ago, LEAP didn't exist. Today they have more than 4,500
members who all are current or former drug warriors (law enforcement
personnel, DEA agents, judges and prosecutors).

Why do so many current and former drug warriors want to end our drug
prohibition policies? Could it be that they know from personal
experience that our drug war is counterproductive and not winnable?
Could it be that they know from personal experience that our drug war
is a complete and total waste of money?
