A NINTH CANNABIS FACTORY RAIDED BY THE POLICE

POLICE have raided a ninth cannabis factory in Swindon 10 days as
part of Operation Dali.

Officers uncovered a large quantity of cannabis plants and artificial
lighting at the house in County Road yesterday.

No arrests were made this time round but so far 15 people have been
arrested and UKP2m worth of cannabis has been recovered in the operation.

Detective Inspector Ian Saunders, of Swindon Police, said: "This the
ninth cannabis factory uncovered in the last 10 days or so.

"Operation Dali is an on-going investigation.

"It is important that we get as much information from the community
as possible to ensure we can continue with our high-profile
enforcement activity."

The first raid came on Saturday, July 22 in Okebourne Park, Liden.

Police searched the house after originally being called out to an
alleged shooting.

Searches on other properties soon followed, with cannabis factories
being discovered in Haydon Street, Edgar Row Close, Wroughton,
Downland Close, Redhouse, two in Alexandra Road, County Road and
Eastbury Way, Redhouse.

Last week seven people appeared before Swindon Magistrates in
connection with the cannabis raids.

The five men and two women are all due to appear before Swindon Crown
Court later this year.

Police say the haul of drugs is easily the largest amount of cannabis
ever discovered in Swindon.
