COUNTY SUING STATE OVER MARIJUANA LAW

SAN BERNARDINO - The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday
to follow San Diego County in suing the state for legalizing the use
of medicinal marijuana.

The counties contend the state's Compassionate Use Act, passed by
voters in 1996, is in conflict with federal law.

An attorney for San Diego County said both counties' lawsuits will
likely be consolidated and argued together.

San Bernardino County Supervisor Dennis Hansberger said the seemingly
conflicting federal and state laws leave local government agencies in
limbo in deciding which laws to enforce.

San Diego County filed its lawsuit Jan. 20. San Bernardino County's
could be filed later this week.

The case will heard at U.S. District Court in San Diego.
