The project it is being initiated by the Bacolod City Anti-Drug Abuse Council in cooperation with the Philippine College of Addiction Medicine and the Philippine Association of Dangerous Drugs Board Accredited Physicians Inc. The symposium title is "Trainors Training Re: Intensified Anti-Drug Program in Bacolod City". It is patterned after the 120-hour lecture series with 128-hour practicum of the PADDBAPI-PCAM Syllabus on Drug Addiction, Dr. Antonio Gauzon, Course Director and PCAM president said yesterday. Gauzon who is also the chairman of the Committee on Drug Education, Bacolod City Anti-Drug Abuse Council, said the seminar will be attended by teachers, guidance counselors, social workers and barangay captains in Negros Occidental, who will be trained and given lectures on several topics concerning drug addiction. To be discussed are Theories of Substance Abuse and Dependence; Neurobiology of Substance Abuse and Dependence; Substances of Abuse; Medical Sequelae of Substance Abuse and Dependence; Republic Act 9165 and Related Laws; Interview and Mental Status Examination; Diagnosis and Classification; Dual Diagnosis; Children at Risk and Diagnostic Laboratory; Acute Crisis Intervention and Detoxification; Withdrawal; Individual, Group, Family Theraphies; Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies; Other Psychosocial, Spiritual, Behavioral Approaches; After Care and Follow-up; Dealing with non-compliance; Out-patient; Prevention, Education and Relapse, Community Involvement and Related Programs and RA 9344 or Juvenile Offender Act. Gauzon said the participants will also visit several venues such as REACH Drug Rehabilitation; Bacolod City Mental Health; Victorias City Drug Rehabilitation Center; Social Development Center; Bureau of Jail Management and Penology; Bacolod City police office and Bacolod City Parole and Probation.*DMG - --- MAP posted-by: Derek
