The candidates are Republican John Faso and Democrat Eliot Spitzer. L.I. TRAFFIC What would you do about traffic congestion in and out of Long Island's Hampton? FASO: "I have a plan to address the infrastructure needs of this state to help all New Yorkers. A major portion of this is to use the gasoline sales tax for pay-as-you-go financing." SPITZER: "The traffic situation in Long Island places a tremendous burden on economic growth, residents and tourism. We need to encourage greater use of public transportation, whether that is the essential addiction of a third track to Long Island Rail Road or simply more people utilizing existing modes of mass transport." CASINOS Will you support more casinos to be opened? FASO: "Where appropriate, I have supported casinos in traditional resort areas of our state." SPITZER: "I believe casinos can play a role in job creation and economic development in our state and I have consistently supported the expansion of gaming in the state.
