CITY COP ON DRUG CHARGE

A WOLLONGONG police constable has been suspended from  duty after
facing a drug charge this week.

The general duties constable was one of four people in  a car stopped
by police on Harrington St at The Rocks  on August 6.

Police allegedly found 36 ecstasy tablets in the car,  along with a
small amount of cash.

The constable, 29, was charged on Wednesday with  soliciting the
supply of an indictable quantity of MDMA  (ecstasy) and was granted
bail to appear at Sutherland  Local Court on October 26.

The only serving police officer in the car, he was  initially released
from Surry Hills Police Station  without charge on August 6 after
being questioned.
