EXERCISE AND RECOVERY

To the Editor:

"Bodies in Motion, Clean and Sober" (Thursday Styles, Oct. 12) points
to a more holistic approach to battling alcoholism and drug
addiction. Many of us in the treatment field have incorporated
exercise, good nutrition and, yes, a spiritual understanding into our
programs in order to better help addicted individuals develop the
tools and structure necessary to maintain a balanced lifestyle.

What happens to people in treatment is important, but what they take
with them when they leave can support and nourish them for the rest
of their lives.
