POT USE INCREASES

Re: Addictive Marijuana Just Isn't Any Ordinary Herb, Feedback, The
Observer, Oct. 18.

Cyril Tobin is right when he states, "Employers, fellow employees,
teachers, fellow students should be able to work in drug-free environments."

However, what he supports goes too far when he states, "Drug tests
are just one of the strategies employed to make this a reality."

This is especially true where cannabis is concerned because drug
tests don't differentiate between residual traces and current
usage/inebriation.

Either Tobin fails to grasp the fact cannabis use is far more
prevalent in our youth than alcohol because the prohibiton of
cannabis provides the environment in which youth gain access to
cannabis, or he just doesn't care and is merely content to get on the
bandwagon with his uninformed denouncement of cannabis and his
insulting comparisons.

Is this the kind of myopic school administrator we expect our youth
to look up to?
