Superior Court Justice Robert Clark granted a request for the extension, made by a lawyer representing the provincial Attorney General Monday. The property remains frozen at least until Nov. 21, when lawyers are to be in court once more. The clubhouse, on Ortono Avenue in the Bloor Street - Wilson Road area, has been under police guard since the province moved to seize it under the Civil Remedies Act in late September. Under the act, the government may apply to the courts for forfeiture of assets and properties if it can be proven they are proceeds or instruments of illegal activity. In documents filed with the court the province argues the clubhouse has been used by Hells Angels members as a place to plot criminal activity, and that the bikers have for years illegally sold alcohol at a bar on the site. The civil action was launched around the same time as Project Tandem, a province-wide police sweep that saw dozens of bikers and associates arrested, most of them on drug charges. Two bikers arrested on charges of conspiring to commit murder -- [Name redacted] and [Name redacted] -- are listed on title as owners of the Ortono Avenue property. Police said [Name redacted] is president of the Oshawa HA chapter. [Name redacted] , of Cobourg, is a former Oshawa chapter member who is now a member of the Angels' elite Nomads group. Neither man was in Superior Court for the brief hearing. Both are in custody and were scheduled to appear for a video remand in an Oshawa court Monday. - --- MAP posted-by: Elaine
