The Leduc Community Drug Action Committee is hosting a lunchtime information session, Cocaine in the Workplace. This educational session was designed for all Leduc and area businesses so they have the right tools to recognize when there is a problem. Guest speaker during the lunch hour session is Cpl. Steve Irwin, of the Leduc RCMP General Investigations Services (GIS). He will be providing information about cocaine and the affects it has on the business community. Participants will learn how to recognize drug use and abuse, learn more about criminal record checks, drug testing and the RCMP's role in working with area businesses. Session attendees will also learn about how the drug affects safe work practices, increase in absenteeism, higher Worker Compensation Board (WCB) and insurance costs, loss of inventory and cash. This educational sessions is free of charge and the Leduc Community Drug Action committee is encouraging business owners and/or representatives to take full advantage of this program.
