On illegal drugs as a symptom (Duff's Corner, Feb. 15): Two points about your column on teen drugs: First, the numbers you quoted regarding Hudson teen drug use are wrong. The number of Hudson teens who have tried drugs is over 80 per cent and the number of Hudson teens who have problems with drugs is over 40 percent. This is straight from the treatment counsellors. Even more importantly, the drugs used are extremely harmful, including very potent marijuana, speed, ecstasy, and crack cocaine, all of which are widespread. To say that Hudson loses almost half of its teenagers to major drug problems is scary, hunh? The problem with teenagers leaving the house and laughing at the rules? The answer is simple - they can leave but they cannot come back. Paul McTeigue Hudson - --- MAP posted-by: Beth Wehrman
