OUR BEST TEACHERS

What better drug awareness program could the students of Mount
Pleasant receive other than a tree and a plaque in memory of Stevie
Reily's life? She died using drugs. Plain and simple. No expert on
drug prevention required here. It's all in the tree and the plaque.
They will be permanent, visible and effective reminders of this
tragedy for all the children of Mount Pleasant and for the community
at large. Thank you, students of Mount Pleasant school for gracing us
with your wisdom, sensitivity and care. Thank you Mr. DiVittori and
members of the governing board for supporting these young children for
wanting to find a way to remember Stevie Reilly's life and the way she
died. Fifty years from now, children at Mount Pleasant School will
still ask; "why did they plant that tree Mommy?" And maybe that mommy
will say: " because they wanted you to know that you can hurt yourself
very badly by using drugs and it was their hope that you would never
make that choice."

And who knows.Stevie Reilly might save someone's life.
