HELP LOCATE METH LABS IN ALTONA

Altona Red River Valley Echo -- Not only is meth use happening in 
Altona, it's being manufactured here too, according to RCMP Cpl. Mike 
Ramsay, coordinator of synthetic drug operations.

Ramsay said they know Crystal Meth labs are and have been operated in the town.

"We know this through source information and information obtained by 
the Altona Police," he said. Ramsay said in some cases they are even 
reasonably sure of the exact locations of potential labs. But he 
admitted, being reasonably sure won't get them a search warrant.

That's why they are asking for the public's help, to look for signs 
that a meth lab is next door. Ramsay said their are many indicators.

Watch for a large amount of chemical containers including drain 
cleaner, brake fluid, camp stove fuel, and ether products. Hydrogen 
peroxide bottles, cold medication products, road flares, matches, 
camera batteries and just about any kind of solvents is also a sign.

Coffee filters with red stains are another sure way to tell. An 
unusual amount of visitors can also indicate a lab. "Labs are also 
places where the drug is dealt out of as well," he said.
