GOVERNOR DILUTES ALASKA EXPERIENCE BY OPPOSING MARIJUANA POSSESSION

I protest the legislative process, specifically the vote of
reconsideration Gov. Frank Murkowski won in passage of House Bill
149, criminalizing small amounts of weed ("House passes merged drug
bill," May 6).

Growing marijuana seedlings is a passionate hobby, nurturing plants
from seedlings to the final curing process. The successful yield is a
sticky, spicy-tasting bud. Marijuana is Mother Nature's finest herb
and smoking herb is more satisfying than any Sunday sermon on the
pulpit of the Rev. Jerry Prevo, Anchorage Baptist Temple.

It may not be your cup of tea, but legal marijuana and solar energy
are a part of the Alaska experience. Alaska pot growers have a
30-year track record of incredible yield, high demand and excellent
profits. Not a single person has died from marijuana overdose. In
2006, legal marijuana in Alaska has more potential than a 30- to
45-year risky outlay with the governor and big oil firms.
