Contact: http://www.brunei-online.com/ Details: http://www.mapinc.org/media/3514 Author: Grace Jiu ST GEORGE'S TOP ANTI-DRUG WRITERS AWARDED St George's School recently held a prize presentation ceremony to its top writers in an Anti-Drugs Essay Writing Competition organised by the school's Anti-Drugs Club in cooperation with BASMIDA, Brunei Darussalam Anti-Drugs Association, and supported by HSBC On hand to present the prizes was the guest of honour BASMIDA's President Datin Hjh Masni bte Hj Mohd Ali According to Datin Hjh Masni, the competition is to encourage students to acquire knowledge and think critically about the global misuse of drugs and hopes it will widen the scope and format that BASMIDA adopts in its continuous effort in dealing with the problem. Nur Farahin Fatihan bte Che Abas won first place in Category A (Form 1 and 2), with the topic 'Drugs destroy universal values. Do you agree?' While Amanda Yap Tong came in second place and Muhammad Azim bin Mohd Daud in third. Winners of Category B (Form 3 and 4) include Nurul Bahriah bte Hj Osman which was followed by Teo Zhen Yi and Damien Newn Jiun Yian. Meanwhile winners in Category C (Form 5) saw two winners, Teo Zhen Quan and Sangeetha Rosaline Jesudason. The competition, which was conducted last year, received 115 entries. All participants received certificates of participation, notepads and pens from HSBC, $5 cash, and meal and drink coupons from BASMIDA. - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
