Samuel Flores, who was on the school's seventh-grade Maverick teaching team, was arrested Tuesday during a "routine drug sweep" at the school, district spokeswoman Nancy Thomas said. "They bring in the drug dogs, and the dogs were in the parking lot and it was in his car," she said. Flores was charged with possession of marijuana, with bail originally set at $1,600, although he was released on the lesser bond. He was placed on administrative leave, Thomas said, while school officials make a decision. The school's last teaching day is Friday, she said, and teachers' last day is Monday. - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Seguin
