WICKER CONSTITUENT OBJECTS TO RECENT VOTE

I am a constituent of U.S. Rep. Roger Wicker's in Amory. I object to
his recent vote "no" on the Hinchey-Rohrabacher Amendment (roll call
333) related to using medical marijuana.

I believe Wicker did not listen.

Every single poll and poll initiative since 1995, 80 in total, has
come back pro for medical marijuana. Even though Mississippi-based
poll initiatives have yet to be done, does that not sound like the
people are trying to tell Wicker something?

Two recent national polls:

- - From the MPP National Poll Done by Mason-Dixon Polling in June 2005:
68 percent pro medical marijuana; and,

- - The AARP National Poll done by ICR Polls in Nov. 2004: 72 percent
pro response.

If Wicker would like to get the full details on these and the other 78
polls at the Web site www.medicalmarijuanaprocon.org/pop/votes.htm. He
can see both sides of the argument while there.

I think it is time that we stop wasting taxpayers' money on locking up
cancer and AIDS patients, along with anyone else who gets a
recommendation from their doctor. It crowds jails and wastes resources.

I also think it is time we started an open and honest discussion about
the issue of drugs in America because before we can fix our drug
problem we must address our drug war problem. Drugs are a medical issue.

They shouldn't be a criminal one.
