MAD SACRIFICE OF TROOPS FOR DRUGS

RE: "Opium For meds, not drugs," [Sept. 20-27]

Follow the money!

If they regulated the opium production in Afghanistan, then Turkey and
Australia (who supply most of the world's legal opium) would lose billions
annually. It works the same way with marijuana: if we regulated that
industry, the pharmaceutical companies would lose billions annually.

So, basically, we are sacrificing Canadian and UN soldiers to protect legal
opium farmers in Turkey and Australia and wasting police resources here at
home to protect Big Pharma.

So absurd it is beyond words!
