DRUG WARS DON'T WORK

Letter writer Tony May cannot be serious if he believes that drugs and
drug dealers will simply disappear if they have a big old drug war.

The reality is that most people will always seek a temporary escape
from the stress of everyday life.

Those who look down from their high horses, saying "oh no, not me,"
have likely forgotten they may indulge in nicotine, alcohol or coffee.

These too are drugs, and it is only through bad politics and bad laws
that some drugs are criminalized and some encouraged.

People want their drugs, and they are here to stay. So any drug war
will be an abysmal failure.

Politicians and lawmakers need to realize this and regulate these
products, as they already do with some of the most destructive drugs
available.
