Contact: http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk Details: http://www.mapinc.org/media/111 WE WON'T WIN WAR ON DRUGS THERE is no chance of a drug-free Scotland in the foreseeable future, according to a former senior cop. The grim warning came from Tom Wood, former deputy chief constable of Lothians and Borders, now chairman of the Scottish Association of Alcohol and Drug Action teams. He said drug policy in the 1980s was inadequate and inappropriate and added: "The truth is that no one here will live to see a drug-free Scotland and a drug-free Europe." Wood also told more than 250 delegates at a conference run by the Scottish Futures Forum, the Scottish parliament's think tank, that funding would be a key priority after the elections in May. And he claimed that alcohol and drugs should not be looked at in isolation but along with a range of other social issues. - --- MAP posted-by: Derek
