TIGHTEN DRUG LAWS

Regarding Kirk Muse's Jan. 14 letter, "Drug war is an occupation," the
U.S. has been fighting the $6 trillion war on poverty since 1960 and
there is no end in sight. Progress has been obstructed, and related
social problems such as crime and disease worsened by those whose drug
use has left them unable to function responsibly.

Preventionists, who are primarily family members and friends of those
whose lives have been lost or ruined by the foolhardy, illegal use of
psychoactive and addictive substances, want to see tighter enforcement
of drug laws. They know that legalization will make these socially
destructive substances more accessible to children and other
vulnerable individuals.

The pro-legalization cabal of drug-using libertarians and intellectual
elitists believe they have an inherent right to the "recreational" use
of mind-altering substances, regardless of the detriment to society.
Their efforts are primarily funded by billionaires George Soros, Peter
Lewis and John Sperling, who, along with the ever-increasing number of
fertility clinics and treatment centers related to drug use and
addiction, stand to profit immensely if drugs are legalized.

The question is: Will society be duped into sacrificing the lives and
futures of its children to accommodate those whose desire to do drugs
outweighs common sense?
