Xavier POT BUST NETS WEAPONS RCMP Const. Derek Kryzanowski has advice if you are thinking about ripping off your neighbour's outdoor marijuana grow-op. He said you might want to reconsider based on a Sept. 6 drug bust at a Merville-area acreage. The owner of the property was arrested after 37 mature marijuana plants were found growing at the rear of his property. "Investigators discovered the plot containing the plants was encircled by electric fencing," reported Kryzanowski in a press release. "The plot was under video surveillance set up in a nearby shed." The contents of the shed included a small cot next to a video monitor. Nearby, RCMP retrieved a loaded .45 revolver and as well as a loaded .22 semi-automatic rifle. "Further investigation revealed that the security system and weapons were in place to thwart the theft of the crop by unknown persons, and not intended for police." The 59-year-old man arrested on the acreage is facing drug charges as well as a number of weapon-related charges. - --- MAP posted-by: Derek
