MOTHER SOLD DOPE TO HER KIDS

A TEACHER admitted supplying cannabis to her own children to stop
them buying it from street dealers.

The woman -- a regular user -- told police she wanted to prevent her
two teens being exposed to criminals who might lure them into harder
drugs and crime.

Officers found 116g of cannabis resin -- worth around UKP 200 -- at
her home on June 15.

The teacher, who is in her 40s, cannot be named to avoid identifying
her children. She admitting possession with intent to supply at Bury
St Edmunds Magistrates Court, Suffolk.

Defence lawyer Kevin McCarthy said the mum wanted to avoid her kids
"being exposed to the world of drug dealing".

Sentencing is on October 9. Judge Robert Booker said he may send the
case to crown court if his sentencing powers are insufficient.

A Suffolk County Council spokesman refused to say if she had been
suspended from her school.
