TANGERANG POLICE OFFICERS URINE TESTED

TANGERANG, Banten -- The Banten provincial Narcotics  Body (BNP) on 
Monday conducted urine tests on all  police officers in Tangerang 
following the arrest of a  police for drugs possession.

The test began at the Jatiuwung subprecinct police  station BNP team 
took urine samples of some 150  officers.

BNP acting chairman Fauzi Mashjur said the test would  continue in 12 
other subprecinct police stations in  Tangerang.

"This is the first time we conduct urine test against  more than 
1,000 officers in the municipality," he said,  adding that the urine 
test was expected to finish  Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Tangerang Metro police chief Sr. Comr.  Hasanudin said the 
urine test was aimed at examining  all police officers whether they 
consume drugs or not.

"If the test results proved that any of my men have  consumed drugs, 
I will not hesitate to take stern  measures against them," he said.

"They will have to deal with legal process soon. I  don't want 
officers to play with drugs," he added.

On Nov. 1, Mauk subprecinct police chief Insp. Dodi  Irawan was 
caught red-handed while holding a drug  transaction, following a 
testimony of a drug dealer  suspect identified as Rudi, a resident of 
West Jakarta who was arrested in a police raid on Oct. 28.
