Parenthetical remark by the Sun editor. THE PARTY WITH THE MOST SENSIBLE DRUG POLICY Re: Tories open big lead (March 2) I'll bet if the national media would do a full, honest, front-page examination of the failed war on certain drugs, then asked each Canadian politician what they plan to do about drug issues, the Tories' popularity would sink like a stone. Why? Because the Tories are following, and will doubtlessly continue to follow, the disastrous, expensive and counter-productive U.S. model, ignoring the success of countries like the Netherlands, which has a much lower crime and drug use rate than Canada or the U.S. In fact, if the war on drugs ever made it to the front page and Canadian voters actually voted for the party with the most sensible and effective drug policy, the Tories and Grits wouldn't be able to land a single seat in the next election.
