INSITE IS MORE THAN A NUMBERS GAME

Re: Feds weigh risks of pulling the plug on Insite, March 26

So, the federal government is putting numbers to the risks of closing
the supervised injection site in Vancouver. Some risks I did not see
assigned a rating on its list include:

1) The risk of losing Canadian lives to a drug overdose.

2) The risk of increased transmission of HIV, hepatitis C and other
infectious diseases.

3) The risk of not getting medical/ nursing care to hard-core addicts.

4) The risk of missing the opportunity to connect with users ready for detox.

I sincerely hope our government considers the lives of drug users,
and the research that has been done, before closing Insite.
