GOVERNMENT WORKS FOR PEOPLE WHO DON'T

A big high five to Len Nixon's letter (Urine tests for the needy, May 11.)

I have been working since I was 15. I have been paying taxes since
then and haven't collected EI or anything all these years. Every so
often, I get a letter from the government stating the status of my
old-age pension benefits.

I laugh each time I get one because it basically says that if I
continue making so little money I will be living on the street eating cat food.

If I die before my husband, he gets more than if I am alive.

Len, you are absolutely right; the government isn't for the people
that actually work. It is for the people that don't!

Plain and simple.

Now I ask you this question: if they made them take urine tests,
where would all the people we have imported work? We have such a
shortage of workers in our country, and a high ratio of people on welfare.

Oops! Maybe the government shouldn't have allowed that. Amazing, our
shortage of workers could have been solved if only the government
would have handed out urine cups instead of cheques.

Len, you have my next vote.
