LEGALIZATION WOULD RETURN NEIGHBORHOODS TO SAVE HAVENS FOR FAMILIES

Regarding the letter, "Drugs ruined what was once a nice little
neighborhood," (AC-T, May 19): During my 18 years of police service,
illegal drugs became cheaper, stronger and even easier to buy. My
profession has already spent a trillion tax dollars to achieve that
result. The letter writer bemoans (and rightfully so) the drug dealing
in her neighborhood. Nothing will change until we end the New
Prohibition and have all drugs sold from a state-regulated store.
