BOSS DOESN'T OWN SOUL

After reading Mindelle Jacobs' June 1 column, "Going up in smoke ," I
was left shaking my head. I disagree with the statement from
management, labour and employment lawyer David Corry that "employers
should have the right to insist workers abstain from illegal drug use
at all times." What I do or any one does on their own time is none of
their employer's business. I'd like to know Corry's opinion about
someone getting a DUI when not working. Should they be fired? Hell,
let's fire everyone who does something illegal off duty. A poor man
lost his job just because he wants to relax on his own time. What is
society coming to? I don't define myself by my job and my employer
does not own me or my soul.
