NO WINNING WAR ON DRUGS

Re: "Still losing war on drugs," by Lee Franke, Monday Letters.

As a police officer, I helped spend over a trillion tax dollars in the
past 3 1/2 decades to arrest some 38 million Americans.

What has been the return on that investment? Drugs are cheaper,
stronger and much easier for our kids to buy. Lee Franke's letter was
spot on. Will we ever be as wise as our grandparents and end our new
prohibition?
