LOCAL ENERGY-DRINK MAKER PITCHES TO POT-HEADS

Munchies aren't included with a caffeinated drink a Winnipeg-based
company is now distributing.

Clarus Canadian Springs is carrying Bong Water Energized Sports
Drinks, a line of beverages where references to marijuana and the
drug subculture abound.

Bong Water is the brainchild of Growth Capital Group. The drinks are
made with Clarus's own spring water.

Bong Water comes in four versions -- the Original Bong Water 420
Chronic Tonic, Purple Haze, Green Dreams and Rasta Cherry. The drinks
are available at stores in Canada and the U.S.

Marijuana

On the Clarus website, a 24-pack of 500 ml bottles sells for $25.36.

In a media release, Clarus stated the pot-themed drinks taste like
soft drinks but have an added energy kick. While the line of energy
drinks features a marijuana theme, the drug actually hampers reaction
times and short-term memory, and creates a state of relaxation.

Bong Water aims to help people rehydrate and replenish water,
electrolytes and sugars after they have been active.

Clarus and Growth Capital Group have high expectations.

A press release states the partnership expects to lure consumers away
from established sports drinks such as Gatorade and Lucozade, which
is made in the U.K.

Clarus bottles spring water under its own name, and specialty beverages.
