P ARREST HEIRESS FIGHTS TO HIDE NAME

The Auckland heiress caught in a P bust will tomorrow fight to keep
her name suppressed for medical reasons.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was given interim name suppression last
week after appearing in court charged with possession of
methamphetamine, a P-pipe and straws, and cannabis.

She was held in prison last weekend but was released on bail on Monday
on the condition that she stay at a Muriwai address, does not consume
alcohol or illegal drugs, and does not associate with Joshua
McPherson, her co-accused. McPherson, a builder, has also been bailed,
to a different Muriwai address.

The woman's lawyer, Mark Ryan, of Haigh Lyon, has applied to have name
suppression continued pending affidavits from the woman, her mother
and her doctor.

In the application, filed on Wednesday, Ryan asked for name
suppression to be continued "until a substantive hearing can take
place on this matter".

Ryan said name suppression should be continued due to the health and
well-being of the applicant, the impact on third parties, and the
risk of prejudicing the trial. He told the Sunday Star-Times the
affidavits should be completed this week.

The heiress's arrest is the latest in a string of high-profile women
facing serious drugs charges.

Last month broadcaster Paul Holmes's daughter Millie and former racing
glamour girl Leanne Isherwood were arrested for alleged P offences.
