DOG BITES OFFICER DURING DRUG RAID

A Saugeen Shores police officer was attacked by an American Bulldog 
during a drug raid on a residence in Port Elgin July 4 at 4:30 p.m.

The female officer suffered dog bites to both lower legs, was taken 
to hospital by police for treatment and is recovering at home.

During the search, police seized marijuana plants, processed 
marijuana, growing equipment and two guns.

The 25-year-old male resident has been charged with unsafe storage of 
firearms. He and a 28-year-old female resident have been charged with 
production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Both were held in custody until a hearing in Walkerton Provincial 
Court July 5. They are to appear in court Aug. 28.

Police are also conducting an investigation under the Dog Owners Liability Act.
