ADDICTIVE PILLS NOT WHAT THEY APPEARED TO BE

ANOTHER DANGEROUS drug has been discovered in the Terrace
area.

Small blue and pink pills that appeared to be ecstasy, and were being
sold as ecstasy, turned out to be methamphetamine after police sent
them to the Health Canada laboratory for analysis.

"We're concerned because we know these particular pills are possibly
circulating in Terrace and we're concerned they may be taken by people
in Terrace who have them in their possession," said Const. Clint Lange
of the RCMP drug section.

"We want people to know these kinds of pills are out there and they
should be aware."

Ecstasy is often cut with more addictive drugs such as cocaine, heroin
and methamphetamine to addict users.

Police have concluded this investigation and no charges will be laid
due to the circumstances of the file, said Lange, who also wouldn't
comment on how police came to possess the pills.

"I think the biggest thing out there is if anyone sees pills similar
to ones I've described and they want to talk to police, we'd be
interested in hearing from them. We will keep the information
confidential," Lange said.
