DISQUALIFYING MANY

Regarding Pat Buchanan's column "Hardball or Dirt Ball" (Dec. 22), and
Sen. Barack Obama's self-admitted drug use in high school, the U. S.
government estimates that at least 112 million Americans have used an
illegal drug during their lifetime. (See the Web site:
www.drugwarfacts.org).

If we insist that our political candidates have never used any
illegal drugs, we eliminate a large portion of our population from
political office. Or else, we are insisting that they be dishonest.
