POT CLARITY

Re: More Clarity On The Dangers Of Pot, letter to the editor, Jan. 19.

While it is regrettable that Lynn King's brother has suffered so much
from his addiction to hard drugs, she should not be so quick to blame
marijuana for his woes. Just because he used marijuana before he used
hard drugs does not mean that he used hard drugs because he used marijuana.

Drug addiction is a complex problem with many candidate causes,
including an addictive personality or just mixing with the wrong
crowd. The problem of drug addiction cannot be addressed by the
simplistic "gateway" argument.
