TREATMENT CENTRE IS MUCH NEEDED

Dear editor,

A treatment centre on the North Island is very much needed. A
treatment centre for young adults is a must as well ... the alcohol
and drug addicted people are not all adults.

A huge percentage of the problem is within our youth and it is my
understanding the treatment centre in Alert Bay is for first nations
people who are 19 years and older.

I have been informed there were some young people turned away because
they are not 19 years old. Some young people are reaching out for
help, and do not meet the criteria of the only centre in our territory
- - how sad is that?

It would be very beneficial to all of the North Island communities if
all parties worked together to make this happen.
