POT PROBLEM NOT BEING SOLVED

The Editor,

The fact that the Coquitlam handed out a bunch of $5,000 fines out
does not mean that either (a) those homes actually had marijuana grow
operations or (b) grow ops are being moved out of town.

The idea that pot growers will move to other areas where they are not
being targeted makes sense, until you realize that they are being
targeted everywhere. Then it makes less sense.

What will happen, instead, is that growers will start to steal power
again to avoid detection or they will switch to low-electrical-draw
lighting.

One thing is clear: Until we regulate and take control of the
marijuana industry, the problem of suburban marijuana growing will
continue.
