END THE WAR ON DRUGS, BUT DO IT SLOWLY

There is a ground-swell of people who are now beginning to understand
that the "war on drugs" is, at best, a farce. In lives lost alone,
this war is costing us more than the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan put
together, and there is no chance of winning.

But, legalizing drugs at this time would kill our economy. At least
hundreds of thousands of people would lose their jobs for lack of
work. These would include policemen, lawyers, district justices,
judges, court staff, correction officers and the contractors who build
prisons. (Of course, the illegal dealers and international cartel
people would lose their jobs, too.)

For such an important issue, we must go slowly.
