SAFE RACING, SAFE INJECTION

The police are providing a safe "fuel-injection site" for drag
racers. They are allowing individuals who are involved in illegal
activities a place where they can safely engage in them under the
supervision of professionals.

This is crime and risk reduction at work, and it seems everyone is
lauding the police for reducing the danger involved in criminal activities.

Why, then, are those same people opposed to a safe injection facility
for intravenous drug users? The principles are the same.

Supervision of criminal activities doesn't make them any less
criminal, just safer.
