HOME DRUG TESTING KITS NOW AVAILABLE

Crest Hill Police Unveil A New Weapon For Parents In The War On Substance Abuse

CREST HILL -- Parents now will be able to conduct random family drug
tests.

The police department has made drug and alcohol testing kits
available through a Law Enforcement Activity and Data System program.

The program is designed to help parents increase their knowledge of
drugs and the warning signs of drug and alcohol abuse.

Part of the program is the availability of drug and alcohol test
kits. The tests can be given at home by a parent to test their
children for drugs and alcohol. Each kit is accompanied by literature
to provide test administering directions and information on
evaluating the results, as well as local resources available for
abuse concerns.

The kits are designed to test for marijuana, heroin, methamphetamine
and cocaine, as well as some prescription drugs, such as Vicodin.

The program is provided with help from Chaney-Monge and Richland
school districts in Crest Hill.

The test kits can be purchased anonymously at the Crest Hill Police
Department during normal office hours. For information contact the
department at (815) 741-5115.
